Bobby, has spent the last two decades pushing for both an industry and individual shift in perspective, from a solely outward focused goal oriented approach to health and fitness to a more holistic approach that is centered on behavior change. Why do clients say that that they want to achieve one thing, but completely sabotage themselves by doing another? In this session you’ll identify what truly influences behaviour change and client adherence; determine why all motivation is not equal; help your clients to resolve the inner conflicts of priorities and values that stifle progress; and discover which basic needs are most important to your client so you can use those needs as a strategy for success.

Andrea Leonard - Introduction to Cancer Exercise: 12.15pm - 3.15pm

In this session we will review the basics on assessing, designing, and implementing exercise programs for individuals diagnosed with cancer. Participants will gain an understanding of the entire cancer process from diagnosis and treatment through recovery, reconstruction, and survivorship. You will learn about the prevention, identification, and management of lymphedema, acute and chronic side-effects of cancer treatment, contraindications to exercise, genetics, breast reconstruction and more.

Ryan Glatt - Exercise, Cognition and Brain Health: 3.30pm - 6.30pm

Programming for Slowing Cognitive Decline and Addressing Chronic Disease. Health and fitness professionals have the opportunity to join allied health professionals in addressing the major epidemic of cognitive decline and neurodegenerative diseases, such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Although exercise has been proven to beneficial to brain health and cognitive functioning, the precise exercise prescriptions are not clear to the general public or the industries of health and fitness.This has led to further confusion and leaves clients, patients, and caregivers wondering if they are doing all that is possible to stave off cognitive decline. This pre-con will review the research on how certain modalities of exercise can deferentially affect the brain, and provide an initial framework for the assessment and programming of cognitive health within exercise programs

INSTITUTE OF MOTION MENTORSHIPS (IoM) ..... BACK IN 2020

What is the Institute of Motion (IoM) and why should you attend? The Institute of Motion investigates and scrutinises emerging views of human design, function, movement and performance.

Through the 3-day intensive IoM Mentorships Fitness Professionals, Coaches and Allied Health Practitioners learn to examine and analyse movement patterns, identify and overcome ineffective injury-producing movement and learn deliberate, coordinated, whole-body action.

IoM is training movement through integration. We look at all the systems of the body including the fascial lines the bones and the central nervous system and how they affect the movement patterns. We can then implement better functional movement for everyday life.
