Welcome to Revive Indoor Cycling Instructor Course – Where “Exercise for the mind, body, and soul” comes to life. 

 Indoor Cycling is a dynamic and popular form of Group Fitness that takes the exhilarating experience of outdoor cycling and brings it indoors. This course is designed to give you everything you need to know about teaching a class

Course pre-requisite:  – students must have access to a Spin Bike when undertaking the lessons.

This is an online, self-paced course delivered by Perform Better Pro-ED

All materials are delivered digitally – through a variety of digital mediums, including written material, video narrated slide presentations, videos of sample exercises, sample forms, and more.

Comprehension of the material will be measured via a mandatory competency assessment requiring a minimum of 80% correct responses.

Overview

This Indoor Cycling Course  offers comprehensive training on cycling techniques, safety protocols, class design, and teaching skills. Master the art of cueing and coaching.  Understand how to effectively communicate instructions to participants, using clear and concise cues for changes in resistance, speed, and position. Practice providing motivation and encouragement to keep participants engaged.

 

Learn how to design well-structured class profiles. This involves planning the flow of your class, including warm-up, intervals, climbs, sprints, and cooldown segments. Ideal for anyone who has a passion for Indoor Cycling and would like to become an instructor.

Module 1: Introduction to Indoor Cycling

  • Learn the benefits of indoor cycling for participants. The Role and responsibilities of an Indoor Cycling Instructor and the overview of the course content and objectives.

Module 2: Bike Set Up

  • Understand the intricacies of bike setup to ensure participants’ safety and comfort. Learn how to properly adjust seat height, handlebar height, and handlebar distance. Educate yourself on safety guidelines and emergency procedures.

Module 3: Hand & Body Positions

  • Hand and body positions are essential components of proper form and technique. These positions ensure safety, efficiency, and comfort  Learn hand and body positions used to ensure your body is properly aligned while cycling.

Module 4: Rider Profiles

  • Understanding rider profiles allows instructors to create well-rounded classes that cater to a diverse range of participants. By varying class formats, intensity levels, and techniques, instructors can offer engaging and effective indoor cycling experiences that cater to different goals and fitness levels.

Module 5: Class Format & Structure

  • Learn how to design well-structured class profiles. This involves planning the flow of your class, including warm-up, intervals, climbs, sprints, and cooldown segments. Consider the music you’ll use and how it complements different phases of the workout.

Module 6: Anatomy

  • Indoor cycling offers a balanced cardiovascular workout that engages lower body muscles, Variations in riding positions, resistance levels, and intensity also include core muscles for stability and control. Understanding the purpose of each muscle during the cycle phase is crucial to maximizing muscle engagement and prevent strain or discomfort.

By incorporating levels of the coaching pyramid, instructors create a well-rounded and impactful indoor cycling class that provides an effective workout that ismotivating and engaging.

Module 10: Communication

  • Instructor communication plays a vital role in guiding participants through the class effectively and creating a positive and motivating atmosphere. Learn all the technical skills and motivational cues that will assist in connecting with participants and enhancing the workout, inspiring them to achieve their fitness goals.

Module 11: Class Design

  • Designing an indoor cycling class involves carefully planning the structure, content, and flow of the session to provide a well-rounded and effective workout. It involves balancing different types of segments to target various fitness components while ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for the participant.

Module 12: Cycling Master Class 

  • Keep in mind that the specific content of a cycling masterclass can vary depending on the instructor, studio, and class theme. Participate in this 45min master class, delivered by Ken to help you understand and feel what 
CERT.

Prerequisites & certification

The Indoor Cycling Instructor Training Course concludes with a final assessment and a 20 min practical demonstration of teaching skills. Upon successful completion, participants receive a Certification as a qualified Indoor Cycling Instructor.

This online course is meant to be taken by Fitness Professionals who have previously acquired education and experience as a professional within the health and fitness industry. 

If you are not instructing but simply want to extend your knowledge in the program you will be provided with a Competency Certificate.

Ken Baldwin has immersed himself in the world of Indoor Cycling in Australia for approximately 20+ years. His initial encounter with the “Indoor Cycling Bug” took place during a remarkable Johnny G spinning master class in the USA, accompanied by the pulsating rhythms of Japanese drums. This experience became his passion, spurring a deep fascination for Indoor Cycling.

A Master Schwinn Trainer and certified across a spectrum of other Cycle programs, including Repco, Cycle Reebok, Keiser, Spinning, Schwinn, and RPM, Ken’s expertise continues to extend to National and International presenting where he shares insights in Indoor Cycling and various other programs, making him a highly sought-after presenter.

Ken continues to this day to teach regular Cycle Classes at his local Gym.
